Tours to Uzbekistan and Central Asia

Uzbekistan sits at the very heart of Central Asia, on the old roads of the Great Silk Road. Samarkand has the Registan, the Gur-e-Amir mausoleum and the Shah-i-Zinda necropolis. Old Bukhara means the Poi Kalyan ensemble, madrasas and trading domes, and Khiva's old town, Ichan-Kala, is still ringed by mud-brick walls. The historic centres of all three cities are on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and they are often joined into one route — along the Silk Road. Tashkent is the modern capital, with a metro and the Chorsu Bazaar, and the Chimgan mountains and the Charvak reservoir are not far from it. Urgench, the main city of the Khorezm region, is Khiva's neighbour, and Karakalpakstan has Nukus with the Savitsky Museum and the ruins of ancient fortresses. More about the country is on the Uzbekistan tours page.
