Uzbek melons are among the world's finest, and the Melon Festival is an annual celebration of the "golden fruit" the country is so proud of. In August, during harvest season, various regions host festivals where you can taste dozens of melon varieties, watermelons and other gourds. The most famous festival is held in Khiva.
