Silk and Spices Festival — Bukhara's Premier Cultural Event
Every year in late May to early June, ancient Bukhara transforms into a living Silk Road museum. The Silk and Spices Festival is a vibrant dive into the world of medieval trade, where artisans, chefs, and performers from across Uzbekistan gather in the city's historic trading domes.
During the festival, Bukhara's streets fill with aromas of saffron, cumin and cinnamon, silk fabrics shimmer in the sun, and craftsmen demonstrate ancient weaving, embroidery and ceramics techniques.
Festival Program
Silk and Spice Bazaar
The historic trading domes host a grand fair where you can buy handmade natural silk, rare spices, suzani embroidery, ceramics and jewelry directly from master craftsmen.
Workshops and Fashion Shows
Weavers demonstrate ikat silk creation — a unique technique of dyeing threads before weaving. Designers present Uzbek silk fashion collections. Guests can try gold embroidery themselves.
